- I am having the most frustrating day in a long while. First – shitty phone call about apartment situation. Second – extended power outage at apartment for no reason. Third – stuck at apartment for stupid reason when I’d rather be hanging out with Rosie in SF. Fourth – my best friend (Rosie) is moving home to Ohio tomorrow and I’m sad about that.
- That and I’m feeling generally angsty. I’ve hit the “I can take fucked up shit in my life while maintaining a positive attitude” wall.
- Trying to alleviate my angst I’ve made the following YouTube playlist: Awesome Movie Trailers
- That and I created an new narcissistic Facebook “all about me” quiz. If you have a Facebook account you should TAKE MY FUCKING QUIZ. (Mostly because I’m narcissistic and want the validation of how awesome I am from outside sources.)
- Also I was just “friended” by someone I had an unreasonably stupid crush on several years ago. Wow, how weird is it to have those feelings rush right back? Crushes crush you, you know – that’s why they call them crushes.
- Meh. I’m hating life today, I’m going to go eat a lot of chocolate, smoke some pot, mastrubate and sit in the sun in hopes of improving my mood via endorphins.

Yah, that's me...

- Dude – remember what I posted yesterday about the Weekly ganking Broke-Ass Stuart’s cheap-eats guide branded concept? Well, it seems as if SFWeekly blogger John Birdsall got his panties into a twist and was butthurt at Stu’s fans objecting to the Weekly’s lack of either creativity or integrity and decided to compare the situation to the fascist beat-down going on in Tehran at the hands of the Iranian government.
- Talk about classless. Yikes!
- Though the comments on both articles are pretty hilarious to read. I <3 innerwebs drama – especially when I’m not involved in it. Call it schadenfreude.
- Not much new here. Haven’t been doing much writing as of late – need to get back on the BitchBuzz horse, I owe Cate quite a few articles.
- Right now I’m trying to identify the BBCAmerica press liaison to try to set up an interview with David Tennant, Russell T. Davies, Julie Gardner and Euros Lyn at Comic Con. X your fingers on that one. How cool would it be if I could deliver on the Doctor Who interview? SUPER COOL!
- At the very least I’m going to have a great article about women at cons. Plus I can cover the DW panel, even if I don’t get the interview. But, I WANTTTT the interview!

- What would Broke-Ass Stuart do? It seems that the SF Weekly ganked the “broke-ass” guide concept for their new foodie blogger from Stu.
- “Freelance writer, foodie and former chef” John Birdsall is exhibiting some shocking snottitude ™ in the comments of the column where people reading – who clearly know how to use Google to research nicknames better than those at the Weekly do – are saying “tsk, tsk” for ganking the name Stu’s been sporting since 2005.
- The claim is that the Weekly had “never heard” of BAS before the comments came rolling in. On this I call “fuschnickins” – you know, it’s not like Stuart has TWO books published under that name or that he won “Best of the Bay” from the Guardian or has a fairly popular website sporting that name or anything…
- Oh the drama of the innerwebs! Maybe I should file for the copyright to the name “Adorkable Grrl” before someone ganks that from me… yikes!
- Onto news pertaining to me:
- I was issued a press badge for Comic Con today – this means I’m heading to San Diego 23-26 July for the con. I’m still waiting to see if I will be scheduled a five minute interview slot with DAVID TENNANT!!! (Please X your fingers for me!)
- Regardless, it will be an awesome time for me and I’m looking forward to interviewing women participating and attending the con for my story about geek girls at comic cons.
- Please keep your fingers X’d for me and Tasha this weekend — we may have a really awesome opportunity to trade some nanny time for free rent on a sweet apartment in Rockridge. Both Tash and I really want this to work out, as it would allow us to save $$ to help get us out of debt AND it would be great to live together someplace safe and sane. (Plus it would allow me to focus more fully on my writing w/out having to worry about scraping up enough work to pay bills.)
- Lumbar puncture #6 was yesterday. I am in pain today. I overshot my wad by taking Max to the dog park yesterday afternoon – I thought I was okay, but clearly I was overly ambitious about that. I don’t know if I’d feel this crappy but for the 80lb dog that jumped up on my back when I turned away to throw a tennis ball for Max… I felt bad for the owner of the dog b/c it was clear that he’d just rescued the animal and hadn’t taken him through obedience training yet. I recommended some books and the SafePet training course to him (and, also suggested he keep his dog on a leash – even in the dog park – until he obeys commands such as “down” “leave it” “come” and “stop.”)
- The dog tried to bite me, too – it wasn’t trying to hurt me, it was just playing – but, it made Max’s hair stand up on end and he got between me and the dog and growled at him. Good boy, Max!
- I then had to spend ten minutes calming Max down and showing him that the other dog was okay and that he didn’t need to bark or growl at him… then I took him home.
- I wish someone would bring me pho and Diet Coke. I would go get it myself but I can hardly walk as it is. Looks like it will be mac n’ cheese and milk for dinner tonight.
- Though I did make a yummy berry smoothie out of frozen blueberries/raspberries and loganberries, skim milk and some honey. Yum!
- Yeah and I got my hairs cut in Ohio:

Girls with glasses get all the passes...
- So who wants to make me a new logo?

- 10 hours in the car with two people and two dogs equals a long ass time. I am finally home in Kent, Ohio. Sad to have my beach vacation end, glad to be in my hometown, albeit only for 48 hours.
- Tomorrow morning I’m having brunch with my Mom’s friend Autumn – who is like my adopted big sister.
- After that I have to take Max’s Sherpa to see if we can get it repaired. Max chewed through it to escape when I had him in it in the hotel room in Washington D.C. before we left for North Carolina. Stupid dog.
- After that I am getting my hair cut. Possibly like this:

Perhaps my hair will look like this after noon tomorrow... who knows how crazy I'll get?
- THEN I’m off to see Tony & Kendra & Baby Elise. YAY AUNTIE KATIE’S COMIN’ ELISE! Let the corruption of the child commence. (I swear that kid will be the first soldier in my midget army.)
- Following that I’m having dinner with my parents and my brother, Mike.
- THEN I’m going to head to Crackron to see my high school BFF – Eric. I haven’t seen him in at least 15 years – I’m SO EXCITED! I have so many fond memories of Eric corrupting me our senior year of high school. It will be fun to get a drink and catch up. He’s my Facebook buddy – so I have a vague idea what’s going on with his life – and, he looks just the same as in high school – I can’t wait!
- Then it is off to the lake house in NY on Sunday afternoon. I’m looking forward to spending the rest of my vaycay laying on the deck in the sun with a cup of coffee and a book and SILENCE! (Last week was super fun, but damn were there a lot of people around!!!)

Happy Beach Kate
- I’m in Corolla, North Carolina for the next week with my family enjoying the surf and sunshine.
- Max is doing pretty well here, he’s varying between barking his head off at everything and being very mellow. I took him down to the beach with my family’s dog (Sammy) and M&C’s dog Nelson to play ball yesterday. He ran so much that he was completely shagged out by 9pm.
- C’s family is here, too — her cousins (who are awesome people who I NEVER see) and they have their kids (all under 6 years old) with them. They are hilarious. I like having the munchkins around, but not having them in our house.
- The house itself is gorgeous. I’ll post pictures later.
- You can check out pictures of my vacation so far on my Facebook profile.
- Here is a cool picture I took as we drove down here. We were going through a tunnel which goes under the Chesapeake Bay:

Go into the light!
- Friday we’ll be headed to Kent for a few days so I can see Tony & Kendra’s baby; and, so I can catch up with Eric Henthorn… Yay!

- So Max and I are winging it towards the East Coast as I type. Virgin America’s saving grace is the WiFi and television on the flight. I’m so unimpressed with everything else – from the twelve extra fees I had to pay for bags and to take Max on the flight and so forth to the bitchy person I’m seated next to AND the completely rude ground staff. Ugh. Assholes. Won’t be flying Virgin if I can help it again.
- The upside is that in a few hours I’ll be in Washington D.C. with my Mom, Spark and our dog Sammy. M&C and baby Nelson are seated in the row in front of me. Bring on the vay-cay.
- Last night I caught up with Rosie for a bit and then had drinks with my friend Tim. And, a good time was had by all.
- Stay tuned for updates from my vacation. I’m sure there will be loads of hilarious pictures and stories. It is my family afterall.
- TTFN innerwebs.

- Ugh it’s cold and dreary outside, you’d hardly know that tomorrow is the start of June. I’m holed up in bed watching TLC home renovation shows and Max is sleeping on my feet. Not such a bad way to spend a Sunday early afternoon.
- I’m horrified at this breaking news story: Doctor Who Performed Abortions is Shot to Death
- This guy is responsible for the funny Nosferatu dancing to Lady Gaga vids on YouTube. Pretty awesome.
- Ray is coming over at some point this afternoon… I suppose I should get in the shower, but Max is warming my toes and I’m comfy…
- I started packing for vacation last night. Max planted himself in the suitcase – I think he thinks he’s being left here – little does he know he’s getting on the jet plane, too.
- Below is a picture of Max from last week at Carnival… super cute!

Max & his buddy Tim at Carnival...
